Greater North Shore On The Move
Set up as a task force of the Aging and Disability Resource Consortium of the Greater North Shore (ADRC of GNS) in Fall of 2008. Mark Whitmore, Director, North Shore Career Center, came to the ADRC of GNS and suggested that a representative team of ADRC of GNS leadership and stakeholders attend the Community Transportation Association (CTAA) of America Institute for Transportation Coordination. The ADRC of GNS Leadership Group and Steering Committee embraced this idea and thus the first group from the North Shore and Cape Ann representing seniors, citizens with disabilities, and transportation agencies applied for this learning experience.
The outcome from the Institute experience was the development of the Greater North Shore On The Move. Since Fall of 2008 there has been planning, development of project applications for improving transportation on the Greater North Shore, as well as the invitation for CTAA to come to MA and hold a statewide Institute. The GNSOTM was able to send a team in Fall of 2009 to the CTAA MA Institute. This has enlarged and strengthened the GNSOTM, and additional transportation projects have been started.
Our goal is: All residents on the North Shore will be able to to travel where they want, when they want.
